Dancing since the age of 3, Kayela Richard is trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary and musical theater through Bates Dance Studios in Manhattan, KS. She has received regional and national recognition and has taken class from the industry’s top choreographers and teachers.
Kayela also studied theater while at Kansas State University where she graduated with a bachelors degree in mass communications with an emphasis in public relations. In college, she began teaching and choreographing numerous competition and performance pieces, and has discovered her passion for working with young, talented dancers.
This is Kayela's 6th year of teaching at BDS for various classes and she is also the assistant director for the Pride and Gems Performance Groups. She expects her students to push themselves physically, mentally and emotionally; expressing equally in dance technique and performance.
Outside of her studio time, Kayela runs her own marketing business that specializes in small business media. She also loves spending time with her family and her two dogs.
